겨울왕국

 

 

애니메이션 돌풍을 일으키고 있는 영화다. 지난 16일 개봉한 '겨울왕국'은 현재 누적 관객수 700만을 바라보고 있다. 애니메이션으로는 경이적인 기록이다. 사람을 불러모으는 힘이 어디서 나오는지 궁금해서 이 영화를 보았다.

 

'겨울왕국'의 매력은 음악에 있는 것 같다. 가슴을 뭉클하게 하는 장면은 대부분 음악과 연관이 있다. 특히 깊은 산속으로 숨으며 엘사가 부르는 'Let it go'가 백미다. 세상을 버리고 자기의 세계를 찾아 떠나는 소녀의 결기와 자신감이 좋았다. 누구의 인생에서나 과거와 결별해야 하는 순간이 있게 마련이다.

이야기의 전개와 구성에서는 아쉬운 점도 눈에 띄지만, 이 노래 하나로 충분히 보상받을 수 있다. 도덕적 교훈을 바탕으로 하면서도 보고 듣는 재미가 즐거운 영화다.

 

영화의 주제는 사랑이다. 겨울왕국 속에 홀로 도피한 엘사는 결국 사랑의 힘으로 다시 세상으로 돌아오고, 왕국은 따스한 봄을 회복한다. 탐욕과 적의를 이기는 건 참된 사랑밖에 없음을 영화는 말한다. 누구의 말인지는 모르지만 영화에는 이런 대사가 나온다. "사랑은 상대를 먼저 생각해 주는 거야."

 

뮤지컬 형식이 아니었다면 그저 평범하고 진부한 영화로 남았을지 모른다. 좋은 음악이 얼마나 사람을 감동시킬 수 있는지 이 영화로 확인할 수 있다. 세상의 명예와 평판을 버리고 당당히 한 인간으로 우뚝 서는 엘사의 모습이 노래와 함께 깊은 여운을 남긴다.
